Hey sexy! Welcome back. I'd love for us to stay in touch, so be sure to sign up for my FREE newsletter. Oh and I'd love to hear from you too, so don't forget to leave a comment for me below.
i know you think they’re ugly.

and i know you think they’re the farthest thing from cool… like ever!

in your mind, these things are made for old ladies only.

but i’m here to tell you you’re wrong!

wrap dresses are probably one of the worlds greatest inventions ever… well, at least in the fashion world.
if you can show me any other garment that creates the type of silhouette that the wrap dress does, than i’m totally open to hear you out.

otherwise, i’m about to show you 3 major reasons why YOU need to be wrapping it up!

reason #1. creates/highlights  instant waist line

i don’t know about you but my eye goes right to Kim’s tiny waist with this wrap dress!

reason #2. creates hourglass figure

so you and i both know that Gweneth is not known for a curvacious body. but this wrap dress gives her the perfect illusion of an hourglass figure.

reason #3. beautiful v- neckline
opening up the decolletage area (especially in a v-shape) instantly creates a slimming effect by leading the eye vertically down our body instead of across.

how incredible does Rihanna look in this hot v-neck wrap?!

as amazing as wrap dresses are, there are some things you should look out for, to look your absolute best in them!

things to beware of:

  • heavy fabric/hem length – what a difference fabric can make. above, you saw Kim wearing a light weight wrap dress looking sleek + slim, but this crushed velvet number adds a lot of weight to her frame… no bueno!

i would have also gone with a shorter hemline for her here. the hemline of this dress creates a dowdy feel.

  • too baggy fit – the number 1 rule in style applies just as heavily to wrap dresses as it does with everything else. if you have excess fabric draping off your body, you look bigger. period.

my pregnant friend Jenny, also wanted me to add that wrap dresses are a great, comfy  staple when pregnant also.

talk about versatility!

got any wrap dresses in your closet?

i’d love to hear your thoughts on wrapping it up, so do tell!

I’ve always been worried that wrap dresses would accentuate my belly, so I never tried any on. This post makes me want to give it a shot next time!

Stephanie had said the same thing! Usually the belly issue is because you’re looking down at your self. Try some on and take a look in a full view mirror. Your perspective may change!

Agreed. Wrap dresses are awesome, look great, flattering, etc.
What can be objectionable about them is that they can be too sexy for a professional environment. When the bodice wraps across the chest, unless you have secret ways to afix safety pins or added some kind of hook and eye, the neckline reveals too much bust. I am a 32DD and a wide-ish waist/short torso so i do love to show some of my curves but i don’t want to divulge my bits and pieces to everyone.
    Any ideas/solutions?
p.s. love your blog and your work. marie ALWAYS looks good.
